character

Princess Lunette

Lunette · Signet's Mother

Signet's dead naiad mother, whose empty body is harvested for the heart and lungs that save Louis.

Story so far

Lunette's body was given to Carl by Signet in the last moments of the Butcher's Masquerade, intended one day to house Samantha. She had originally existed as a tattoo etched onto Signet soon after Edgar found the young, orphaned half-naiad, her own mother having died at the hands of high elves.

When Carl dumps the body onto a cot beside Louis, he immediately spots the problem: she has gills and is a full naiad, not the half-blood he expected. That turns out to be exactly what the surgery needs. Imani and Rosetta open her up and extract her heart and pulmonary system — lungs shaped unlike a human's, requiring careful cutting — and those organs go into Louis's chest. The body meant to become Samantha is spent instead on saving a flesh golem.

Appearance

The body of a slight, beautiful naiad, with gills at the neck and lungs built differently from a human's.

Role

Organ donor whose naiad heart and lungs replace Louis's machine-made ones.

Relationships

Signet — Her daughter, who gave the body to Carl.
Samantha — The body was meant to eventually house her.
Louis — Receives her heart and lungs.
