Awakened NPCs who remember their past lives across previous faction wars seasons, forming Juice Box's war council.
Arief uses the word while explaining to Carl that Larracos has hosted seasons before. Arief himself remembers nothing and believes he is new, as most of the city's NPCs are, but some have persisted with "the memory quickened." His uncle remembers dozens of seasons — not as many as Juice Box — and because of it he is one of the Jatismara and sits upon Juice Box's war council.
The existence of the Jatismara reframes the whole floor for Carl: the dwarves are not merely awakened to the fact that they are game pieces, they are reincarnating game pieces, and the most-remembered among them have become the institutional memory of the resistance. Arief adds that the awakened believe death is nevertheless permanent for them now, unlike the Outworlders, and that Juice Box says there are different kinds of NPCs made for different purposes — some shopkeepers and some patrons of certain establishments simply cannot understand.
Outwardly ordinary awakened NPCs, indistinguishable from their neighbors except by what they remember.
