Story so far

Princess Donut's pre-assault briefing guessed Empress D'Nadia probably had a gun; the first thing that happens in The Throne Room is a crossbow bolt slamming into Carl's shoulder and pinging off his Tech Shield, the bolt sizzling strangely where it lands. Donut cheerfully corrects herself — not a gun, a crossbow, she remembers now.

D'Nadia is loading a second bolt when Carl's first Banger Sphere staggers her into the wall and she drops the crossbow on the floor. She never recovers it, falling back on a concealed pulse pistol and then a knife.
