Late-entry deal granting returning former crawlers level 60, a temporary race, and a class, but no gear.
Tipid explains to Carl that every one of the 50,000 returning former crawlers was checked in on the same terms: the standard merc package. It sets each of them at Level 60 regardless of the level they reached in their original crawl — Tipid himself was 96 when he left — and lets them choose a non-permanent race and a class. Most declined the race change, though some took it. Tipid traded his old poisoner class for Liquid Dervish; Rosetta came in as a Barn Burner.
The package includes no equipment whatsoever. Tipid and Rosetta wear plain unenchanted clothes, as do the three Bune returnees, and "what you see is what you get" — though some classes come bundled with weapons or powerful spells, and everything the returnees know from their first crawl comes with them. The rival warlords' reinforcements negotiated a different deal entirely, becoming Hired Mercenary instead.
