character

Rosetta

Resistance operative who directed Porthus's broadcast and personally tasked York with destroying the orc children's yacht.

Story so far

Before the veterans onboarded into Faction Wars, leaving York alone to watch over and fly the starship, Rosetta asked him point-blank whether he had the fortitude to complete a little side mission: to kill The Orc Yacht, a small ship carrying children including the new king of The Orcs. She and the others saw only York's endless poetry and assumed he had grown weak; they had no idea of the hollowness inside him, and he was careful to look faintly reticent while accepting.

Rosetta also directed the pre-recorded broadcast in which Porthus announces the new militant group, filmed well before the epilogue and timed for release the moment Faction Wars ended. Her fingerprints are therefore on both halves of the ending: the atrocity nobody attributes to the resistance, and the declaration of war everybody sees.

Role

Resistance handler who assigns the yacht assassination and stages the movement's public declaration.

Relationships

York — Recruited him for the yacht killing, misjudging his poetry as weakness
Porthus — Directed his timed broadcast announcing the militant group
The Orc Yacht — Ordered its destruction as a deniable side mission
