character

Porthus

Resistance leader whose pre-recorded broadcast announces a militant campaign against Syndicate property across the universe.

Story so far

Porthus is the strategist behind the operation that ends the book outside the dungeon. He ordered the enhancement zone guns and beams installed aboard the Homecoming Queen - highly regulated, high-energy weapons that should only function in the center system - and predicted that enhancement zone suits and Cronus-class Power Armor would work as well. When York runs his boards at the epilogue, every one of those systems reads green, making the Homecoming Queen very likely the strongest ship in orbit.

His face arrives on the news as a Breaking News banner: Porthus behind a desk, announcing the formation of a new militant group and warning that it is moving against all Syndicate governmental properties and systems across the known universe. The demand, stripped of language, is stop the crawl or else, with a deadline of the end of the current crawl. York knows the video is old - he was present when Rosetta directed it - and that its release was timed for exactly this moment.
