Non-Corporeal Avatar

translucent avatar · partial teleport

System compensation that manifests an unconscious teleport target as a ghostly, harmless projection.

Story so far

When Shi Maria accepted the Summon Ally invitation on Carl's behalf, Carl was unconscious, so the system compensated by manifesting him at the destination as a non-corporeal avatar rather than a body. Mordecai explains that this safeguard exists to stop people using the spell to pull friends out of deadly situations — but in Carl's case it saved his life, thwarting Stockade's plan outright. Carl remained in that state for roughly ten hours until he began to wake.

Adjudication footage shows the effect plainly: a translucent, flickering version of Carl standing in The Ballroom while his body lay on the infirmary cot, existing in both bases at once. Panford rules this a partial teleport and notes the additional corruption caused by Katia touching Carl's hand, which left his consciousness inside hers.

Appearance

A translucent, flickering duplicate of the crawler, present but insubstantial in two places at once.
