Mind Mages
Madness psionic specialists scattered through their army, invisible to targeting until Carl's Mind Balance hit 16.
Story so far
Dozens of them were spread through the Madness force, stacking Endless Thread of Distraction, Self Harm and Intrusive Thoughts on Carl until his Mind Balance was flagged as overwhelmed. They hid effectively enough that no one could pick them out of the line.
When Carl's skill hit level 16, seeing them came with it. He painted them one by one, sent orders to focus them first and reroute incoming fire onto them, and the Cheese Cutters salvo erased more than half of the marked casters. The attacks on Carl ceased entirely afterward, and the surviving soldiers began to spread out, unaware the crawlers were out of missiles.
Appearance
Ordinary-looking Madness soldiers scattered through the ranks, indistinguishable until seen through high-level Mind Balance.
Role
The enemy's psionic battery, and Carl's first target list once he can see them.
