Story so far
Carl places Mongo and Rend as "many miles away at the base with Donut" when the crying spellbook gets loose in his kitchen — thankfully, since either pet would likely have attacked it.
The base is where the fortification work Donut reports on is happening: The New Wall going up, The Castle painted pink, Jamal being repaired by Justice Light.
