Splitters

splitter mobs

Mob type that travels as a single damage-immune mass and bursts into individually vulnerable, briefly dazed components.

Story so far

Mordecai and Morales both tell Carl that the Rolling Battle Formation Ball is basically a splitter and that the tactic will work. The rule, established by the first floor's Ball of Swine, is that the individual pieces inside are immune from all damage while in ball form; only once the ball itself sustains enough damage does it break apart, and the individuals within are then dazed for a few moments — so the attackers must act fast.

Carl executes exactly that: two Hob-Lobber throws to burst the ball, then a frantic under-a-minute slaughter of dazed Skank Skunk Warriors while they can't fight back. It nearly works cleanly — except the daze also delays the effect of Bad Attitude, and the survivors wake up long enough to unleash the spray that inflicts Skanked.

Role

A mob mechanic dictating the party's whole approach: break the mass, then kill the dazed pieces fast.
