character

Gwen

Gwendolyn Duet · the Boring Ol' Fighter

The blunt, brawler First Nations land-quadrant commander whose spear-fighting brilliance is matched only by her abrasiveness.

Story so far

Gwendolyn Duet — Crawler #1,293,776, a level-34 human 'Boring Ol' Fighter' — commands the Land Quadrant siege and, meeting Carl and Princess Donut face to face, proves a formidable, prickly ally. A roughly 45-year-old First Nations Canadian built by hard labor (scarred knuckles, a crooked nose, a laborer's frame Carl instantly reads), she wields a metal spear and a class that trades all magic for pure martial skill — Katia Grim watched her pierce a pazuzu, vault over it, and hurl its body at another monster. Her team breached the sandcastle's four walls and found the drainage panel for the 'easy' flood plan, which she strongly favors over the party's risky lightning-door gambit; she's been feuding with Katia, who refuses to be bullied, for nearly a day of stalling.

Blunt to the point of cruelty ('So you two finally fucking made it'), she nonetheless throws in with the hard plan, deploying Tran's metal-detection and stationing her crawlers as Carl rigs the door.

Appearance

A solid, roughly 45-year-old First Nations woman about five feet tall, short dark hair under a fur-lined glowing metal skullcap, a faded double-v tribal forehead tattoo, arrowhead-line tattoos on her hands, a crooked oft-broken nose and scarred laborer's knuckles.

Role

The land-quadrant field commander — a brilliant spear-fighter and stubborn, abrasive leader at odds with Katia over how to take the castle.

Relationships

Katia Grim — Her co-commander, whom she bullies and feuds with over the stalled castle plan.
Carl — The 'bomber boy' whose lightning-door plan she thinks foolish but goes along with.
Tran — The metal-detecting crawler on her team she offers to help rig the door.
Princess Donut — The 'little princess' who admires her tattoos and likens her to a mini Hekla.
