The volcano-shaped Aztec-carved tomb-mountain at the bubble's heart, its flooded halls and drainage system central to taking the land quadrant.
Seen from the descending balloon, the Necropolis of Anser is even more mountain than building — a volcano-shaped tomb whose exterior is covered in intricate, angular Aztec-style carvings of pterodactyl-like birds, no two stones alike, hinting at a hidden story. Nests once housed the chainsaw buzz-ards pocking its flanks. Its interior is flooded (because the water quadrant fell first), and its water is pumped in a loop: a drainage panel by the Sandcastle of the Mad Dune Mage can flush half of it back to the ocean, but full draining requires shutting off the submarine's pump — which Maggie never did, meaning someone must eventually return to the dreaded subterranean depths.
Survivors hide in top-level safe rooms; Mike the banana died to a flesh-weasel trap venturing out. The sandcastle guards its entrance, and Emperor Anser's ghost-queen is sealed within.
