Ruckus

Spring-operated Chicken Hawk Sentinel · the cyborg death bird

A house-sized steampunk cyborg hawk borough boss with a giant multi-buzzsaw weapon, killed by Carl's missiles.

Story so far

Ruckus is a Level 55 Borough Boss: a house-sized, half-biological, half-machine "Spring-operated Chicken Hawk Sentinel" that roosts nightly near Hump Town and terrorizes the whole bubble. Built by the dead bugbear treasure-hunter Shamus Chaindrive and stored in stasis aboard his submarine, the Akula, Ruckus was a self-replicating automaton tasked to kill anyone hunting Chaindrive's prize, the Gate of the Feral Gods. It resembles a colossal armored hawk — brass pipe-covered helmet over a real beak, spinning cogs, metal-flecked organic wings with a three-train-car span — wielding a 25-foot cluster of ten spinning buzzsaws on a retractable cable.

It had wrecked Gwen's siege towers and stymied her land-quadrant assault. When a system "timeout" over Carl's talk of the Gate seemingly reawakened its true directive, Ruckus attacked; Carl, firing modified guided missiles from the Royal Chariot while Katia Grim drove straight at it, blew off its wing and shredded it with a triple strike, looting a ton of dwarfish aluminum, a battery, and the salvageable buzzsaw.

Appearance

A house-sized hawk-shaped cyborg in steampunk brass armor, a pipe-covered helmet hiding its eyes, cogs and wheels spinning on its body, metal-flecked organic wings, and a cabled 25-foot ten-blade buzzsaw slung beneath it.
