The bronze pocket watch looted from Kane — one of the Gate of the Feral Gods' three pieces, useless without a winding box.
The Mysterious Pocket Watch is the second of three components of the Gate of the Feral Gods, looted by Carl from Commandant Kane's corpse — identical to the one Henrik carries. Its system description is deliberately unhelpful: it keeps terrible time, its hands sometimes move on their own, it bears an etched bone symbol Carl half-recognizes, and it houses a 'mirror that isn't quite a mirror.' It won't function without a winding box (held below by the mage Ghazi). Carl discovers its alarm mechanism — pulling the top tab out three times lets him set it, and doing so makes the twin watch buzz: when he trips the alarm the not-mirror shows a fish-like creature meeting his gaze, which he realizes is Henrik, alive in the necropolis and signaled by the alarm.
Assembling all three pieces opens a portal home but looses a mad feral god on this world.
A bronze pocket watch etched with a bone symbol, its face topped by a small dark 'mirror' and a tiny alarm indicator; it ticks erratically or not at all.
The second Gate piece — a communication link to Henrik and one-third of the artifact that opens the portal home.
