NPC Self-Awareness Crisis

Self-Aware Faction NPC Problem

Faction-created NPCs are increasingly acting beyond sponsor control, disrupting meetings and undermining the expected Faction Wars balance.

Story so far

Epitome Noflex survives an organized attempt by Tagg's forces to kill her, chooses to attend the war council, and freely assassinates a protected faction representative before the games begin.

Tagg claims that all of the relevant NPCs are becoming self-aware and that no faction will be able to win under those conditions. The mantids apparently withdrew after a second appeal, while Luke believes their departure was a warning everyone else ignored.

Cascadia refuses ownership of the problem. Because Noflex is not officially assigned to Carl's team, production says ordinary actors may kill her but cannot demand system intervention.

Appearance

Game-generated soldiers cutting puppet strings and walking off a tactical board while alarmed sponsors file appeals.

Role

The crisis threatens every sponsor's assumption that faction assets will remain controllable.

Relationships

Epitome Noflex — Her autonomous infiltration is the immediate example.
Epitome Tagg — He argues the phenomenon makes victory impossible.
Cascadia — She declares it outside her active problem list.
Luke — He interprets it as evidence the remaining factions will die.
