The Visitor

Iowa Nightgaunt

The Visitor is a level-seventy Nightgaunt deckmaster whose hatred of Carl's cloak makes it ignore a powerful moth-and-snare deck.

Story so far

The Visitor is based on a real 1903 Iowa incident in which a trespassing Nullian lost a Nightgaunt during an unauthorized Earth trip. Locals shot the stranded creature, creating an urban legend.

The dungeon version is an aggressive flying demon accompanied by six level-thirty Quench Moths. It carries eighteen totems, including a legendary Demon Queen, plus ten Lamp snares designed to empower moth swarms around glowing, paralyzed targets.

Carl's equipped Nightgaunt cloak aggravates it. The Visitor becomes so focused on him that it repeatedly attempts its own unusable spells, never draws a card, and dives directly at him.

Jola's candle reveals the creature and its naked state strengthens the Yule Cat. Jola pins, shakes, and kills it, awarding token seven.

Appearance

A naked batlike demon hovering with dog-sized moths, glaring past its own floating card deck at Carl.

Role

The Visitor is a potentially dangerous synergy deck defeated only because its programmed species rage overrides play.

Relationships

Carl — His Nightgaunt cloak becomes the creature's exclusive target.
Jola — The Yule Cat reveals and kills it.
Quench Moths — Six bodyguards and most of its deck support the swarm strategy.
Nullians — A Nullian brought the original creature to Earth.
