The bear-folk town under the party's protection, a day away from self-sufficiency and already fighting off hunters.
The town is the one thing going right. While Carl and Princess Donut were away for barely two hours, Mordecai held it together: the Ursine were talked round on the danger from the Hunters, an attack by a pair of pale The Dream elves was beaten back into the woods, and the two men Carl brought out of the forest have been building picket defenses and have already upgraded the southern wall. They work fast, Mordecai notes, especially now that they have turned.
Donut's Mushroom People are posted there as well. Mordecai's estimate is that another day will make the settlement self-sufficient, at which point the party can move further south — a timetable that now has to be weighed against Lexis's warning about The Butchers Masquerade and Carl's instinct to take the stairs early.
A bear-folk town ringed by rising picket defenses and a freshly upgraded southern wall, hemmed by the woods the hunters keep coming out of.
The settlement the party has taken responsibility for, and the anchor holding them on this floor.
