The Syndicate

Syndicate · Syndicate council · Syndicate Crawl subcommittee

The governing body overseeing the crawl, whose council now unanimously regards Carl as a problem.

Story so far

The Syndicate provides liaisons like Orren, nominally neutral third-party observers and fact finders, though Carl has recent evidence that some play fast and loose with the word neutral. Listening in on Carl's hearing are a Borant representative, members of the Syndicate Crawl subcommittee, additional unnamed interested parties, and a designated media representative forbidden from reporting unless a law is broken.

Orren says the council was once indifferent to Carl and is not anymore. The Syndicate cannot confiscate the Gate of the Feral Gods because the system forbids it and patching such artifacts requires consensus across all involved entities, which they lack. Orren also admits, without explanation, that a liaison assisted Carl's enemies against Maggie My, and that the matter has been dealt with as swiftly as the present one will be.

Role

The regulatory authority above Borant, arbitrating what may be done to Carl.
