Polar Settlement

the other colony site · the polar colony · the separatist settlement · the polar pre–Corporation Rim site

The isolated community rejects corporate removal and moves toward managing its dangerous ancient home as a connected university research site.

Story so far

The polar separatists lived for decades inside a powered pre–Corporation Rim installation protected by AdaCol2. Barish-Estranza reached them first, but Murderbot's Documentary and the corporation's violent abduction attempt exposed the reality behind its relocation offer.

The settlement remains reluctant to evacuate or reunite with the main factions. Instead, it commits to developing the planet as a controlled alien-remnant research site and begins negotiations with Iris, Kaede, Martyn, Dr. Mensah, Pin-Lee, and Holism's representatives. Planned hard-cable links will extend feed and comm beyond the terraforming blackout, while university investment can supply routers, satellites, transport, trade connections, and safer containment. The community retains ownership and the right to change its mind.

Appearance

An inhabited ancient underground complex of painted corridors, dark-blue rooms, machine halls, hangars, patched equipment, and modern family spaces beneath the polar blackout.

Role

The polar settlement becomes the nucleus of a consensual research partnership rather than a hidden population available for corporate capture.

Relationships

AdaCol2 — AdaCol2 remains the settlement's guardian intelligence and requests a vastly expanded entertainment archive from ART.
Holism — Holism will remain to negotiate infrastructure and research arrangements with the settlement.
Murderbot's Documentary — Murderbot's Documentary helps the community identify corporate coercion before choosing its own alternative.
