Pin-Lee previously helped expose GrayCris, protected Murderbot’s memory through legal action, and treated the secretly free SecUnit as a person. When ART’s concealed message buoy reaches Preservation, she joins Mensah aboard an armed station responder bound for the lost-colony system.
After the responder docks with ART, Pin-Lee checks that Murderbot is all right and enters the flood of reunions and introductions. The university crew’s original colony charter strategy no longer fits a population altered by alien contamination, while Barish-Estranza still intends to enforce its reclamation claim.
