The proud, independence-minded Gold lords of the outer moons, risen in the Second Moon Rebellion and courted by both Darrow and the Sovereign.
The Rim is the confederation of Gold Moon Lords ruling the outer worlds—Jupiter's Galilean moons, Saturn, and Uranus—a colder, harder, more honor-bound breed who scorn the Core's decadence and hold themselves the truest heirs of the Iron Golds. Long the Sovereign's deepest fear (she nuked Saturn's moon Rhea sixty years ago to hold them), they rose again after Darrow's Triumph: the Moon Lords' hostage children escaped Luna with Mustang's spies, Revus au Raa's heirs seized the Calisto garrison fleet, and Io declared independence, igniting the Second Moon Rebellion. Romulus au Raa was elected Sovereign of the Rim, but Roque's Sword Armada has ground their under-supplied fleet down for a year.
Caught between the Sovereign's peace terms and Darrow's alliance, the Rim turns when the Sovereign's nuclear treachery is exposed—throwing its armada behind the Rising's bid to destroy the Sword Armada and win permanent independence.
A far-flung dominion of shielded moon-cities and dockyards, its lithe low-gravity Golds in tan combat gear, colored scarves, insectile kryll masks, and skipper boots, bearing ivory-stocked railguns and razors.
The independence-seeking Gold power of the outer worlds; the pivotal ally Darrow wins at Ilium in his war on the Society.
