Tinos

the city of Ares

The Sons of Ares' hidden bastion two kilometers beneath Mars—a stalactite fortress above a swelling, starving refugee city.

Story so far

Tinos is the secret heart of the Rising: a colossal cavern more than two kilometers beneath Mars, disguised in the Society's maps as depleted bedrock by the hacker Pop. Ares's bastion hangs in an inverted forest of stalactites hollowed into docks, barracks, and sensor arrays, lit against the otherworldly dark by generators fed by an underground river. A hundred meters below sprawls what was once an underground city, now drowning under a roofless refugee camp of nearly half a million Reds—465,000 by the logs—fled from mines the Jackal purges with achlys-9 gas in an invisible genocide.

Rations are halved, rats gone, disease spreading, and the twelve clans divide into feuding camps; Ragnar, the Shield of Tinos, is loved above all for descending to calm the riots. It is here Darrow is brought to heal, reunite with his family, and confront the ruin of Eo's dream.

Appearance

A vast subterranean cave of inverted stalactite-fortresses glittering with dock lights over a canyon-streeted stone city, its floor and switchback stairs choked with a teeming, muddled refugee camp; kept perpetually bright against the dark.

Role

The hidden capital of the Sons of Ares and refuge of the purged Red clans; Darrow's sanctuary and the moral weight on his shoulders.
