Phobos

Mars's crowded inner moon and orbital-defense heart becomes Virginia's command post as Lysander's coalition closes for a battle meant to crack the Republic's shield.

Story so far

Phobos is Mars's largest inner moon, only twenty-two kilometers wide beneath centuries of added cityscape, industrial docks, fortresses, and military systems. Its rich inhabit the outer needles, while the dense Hollows cluster around gravity generators deeper within; evacuation has begun but leaves millions still exposed. The Julii-Sun docks circling it make the moon both a vital industrial prize and the heart of the Republic's orbital defense complex.

On the eve of battle, Virginia au Augustus descends to Bastion One and its nerve center, the Nucleus, to command the OBC through a battle crown. The incoming Core-Rim armada under Helios, Dido, Diomedes, Julia, Apollonius, Cicero, and Lysander must penetrate its defensive shells to threaten Mars directly. Lysander instead reveals a more focused plan: rail slugs smash the north-pole defenses and leave Phobos exposed as he maneuvers the Lightbringer toward alignment with it.

Appearance

A fast-orbiting, heavily built moon of starscrapers, jagged fortresses, and intercrossed orbital docks, with densely populated Hollows in its artificial interior and a high-security command sphere buried inside Bastion One.
