An Eros inspector who answers Miller's impossible call, recognizes the danger, and agrees to keep his old colleague outside the official record.
Inspector Sematimba responds when Miller calls from Lionel Polanski's flophouse after a gunfight. The absence of any automated alert despite the obvious shots immediately confirms that normal Eros security systems have failed or been suppressed. Sematimba arrives with riot-armored officers and finds the four civilians Miller says were attacked, several corpses downstairs, and Miller's claim that the larger problem is a fifth body upstairs.
The dead woman is Julie Mao, the person Miller came to find, and Miller tells Sematimba that her condition requires a coroner. He also reveals that the civilians include James Holden, publicly believed killed after the Donnager battle, and that the armed attackers had been waiting specifically for them. Sematimba offers to help, but Miller warns him away from a conspiracy deep enough to drown anyone who enters it. Sematimba accepts the bargain: Miller must not leave Eros without telling him, and the official story will not implicate the old detective or Holden's crew.
Sematimba is a very tall Belter with exceptionally dark skin and a strong composed face that turns grave under pressure. He wears Eros security clothing and arrives backed by officers in riot armor.
Sematimba is the compromised but decent Eros inspector who gives Miller and the Rocinante crew a brief shield from official scrutiny.
