Rim Dominion

The Rim · Lords of the Dust · House Raa

The insular, honor-bound Gold power of the Jupiter system, ruled by House Raa and closed to outsiders for a decade.

Story so far

The Rim Dominion is the independent Gold civilization of the outer system—the moons of Jupiter and beyond—ruled from the volcano moon of Io by House Raa, whose head Romulus is Lord of the Dust and Sovereign of the Rim. After Octavia destroyed one of their moons and their Ganymede docks, the Rim sealed its borders a decade ago; no ship has crossed into Rim Space since, and the Pax Ilium treaty keeps an uneasy peace with Darrow's Republic. Feared even by the Ascomanni, the Rim's warriors are honor-bound and formidable.

When Cassius and Lysander flee to asteroid S-1392, the Rim destroyer Charybdis—marked with House Raa's three-headed electric dragon—annihilates the raiders in under a minute and captures the Archimedes, dragging the disguised fugitives into the Dominion's grip.

Role

The looming third power between Republic and Society; the closed Gold realm whose warship captures Lysander and Cassius.

Relationships

Romulus — Its head, Lord of the Dust and Sovereign of the Rim, whom Darrow fears will one day attack the Core.
Cassius — The disguised fugitive it captures, blamed by the Rim for killing Revus au Raa.
