character

Lorn Au Arcos

the Rage Knight · Stoneside · Arcos

The legendary Rage Knight, butchered at Darrow's Triumph feast defending his friends, never even drawing his blade.

Story so far

Lorn au Arcos attends Darrow's Triumph feast, softened and warm—playing tag with his grandchildren, teasing Darrow, agreeing to let Roque present the Mask. When the Jackal's coup erupts, the old knight roars 'HOWLERS TO ME!' and shoves his grandchildren to safety, but the disguised assassin Lilath cuts his throat from behind; he jams his hand into the blade, losing four fingers, and struggles with a shard of glass until the Jackal calmly guts him—'Your side isn't made of stone.' The Sword of Mars, who was tricked into this war and only wanted a separate peace on Europa, dies without ever drawing his razor, never to see his island, his griffin Icarus, or the grandson Lysander Darrow promised him again. Aja, his old student, closes his eyes and takes his blade.
