A peaceful security department becomes a hostage-response, interrogation, rescue, and cyber-defense force under Murderbot’s disruptive influence.
Preservation Station Security begins Lutran’s murder case without homicide experience and with deep suspicion of Murderbot. The case now forces rapid growth. Officers respond to the Lalow hostage incident, arrest its crew, provide medical checks and extensive detainee rights, then conduct coordinated interviews that reveal a refugee-rescue route out of BreharWallHan.
Murderbot’s analysis proves that ten refugees vanished between Merchant Dock cameras and exits. When existing analysts report no hack because no breach alert fired, Senior Officer Indah lets Murderbot demonstrate how easily it can seize secure displays and an officer’s vest camera without detection. Security then grants the SecUnit administrator access to inspect both its own nested systems and those of the Preservation Port Authority, reversing the department’s founding restriction on its consultancy.
The department’s port office includes public counters, workspaces, conference rooms, holding cells, cargo-analysis labs, a treatment area, and a central live safety map surrounded by floating displays.
Station Security is transforming in real time from a safety bureaucracy into a capable major-crime operation, with Murderbot now inside rather than outside its trust boundary.
