character

Senior Officer Indah

Indah · Senior Indah · Senior Security Officer Indah

Indah baits the murderer, backs Murderbot through the final confrontation, and offers it a future place in station investigations.

Story so far

Senior Officer Indah’s first murder case forces her from distrust of Murderbot to operational partnership. After the refugees are rescued, she chooses Mish as bait, obtains the processing access for Murderbot’s surveillance audit, and assembles a new special-investigation team from responder crew who could not be compromised. When Murderbot warns that a spoofed message and falling crane reveal the trap, she admits that only Supervisor Gamila knew about the data request—but accepts Murderbot’s assurance that Gamila is not the traitor.

Once Balin is exposed as a hidden CombatBot, Indah takes custody of the scene and reads Murderbot’s meticulous reconstruction. She notes that their only basic error was assuming the killer entered Lutran’s transport from inside rather than crossing the hull. At the medical station she tells Murderbot she did not leak its newsstream image and would never undermine it, because they are on the same side. She authorizes the promised hard-currency payment and asks whether it will accept another contract when something strange occurs. Murderbot’s conditional yes marks the partnership’s survival.

Appearance

A short Preservation woman, slightly older and a little lighter brown than Mensah, with a solid square build, short hair, and a habitually annoyed but increasingly wry expression.

Role

Indah closes the case as the lawful senior officer and validates Murderbot as a paid colleague whose autonomy strengthens rather than threatens station safety.

Relationships

Murderbot — Murderbot earns Indah’s trust through evidence, restraint, and protective paranoia; she answers by promising direct conflict rather than covert undermining.
Balin — Balin is the trusted Port Authority bot Indah must reclassify as Lutran’s murderer and a corporate CombatBot.
Mish — Mish becomes Indah’s reluctant bait after she confronts his prejudice and reminds him that Murderbot refused charges against his group.
