Preservation Station’s square-built senior security officer must master an unfamiliar murder while sharing authority with a SecUnit she distrusts.
Senior Officer Indah leads Preservation Station Security, an organization built for accident response, cargo safety, and low-level port disorder rather than homicide. The first apparent murder on the station exposes that gap: Medical does not initially prioritize the body scan, the victim has no accessible identification, and Indah’s staff can offer only an approximate time of death that Murderbot has already calculated.
Though openly irritated by Murderbot and skeptical of its methods, Indah understands that it has relevant experience from corporate labor installations. Under Dr. Mensah’s pressure, she agrees to hire it as a consultant and raise security around the council. Her insistence on referring to the dead human as “the deceased” or “the victim” reveals a need to impose professional order on an investigation already slipping beyond Preservation’s familiar procedures.
A short Preservation woman, slightly older and a little lighter brown than Mensah, with a solid square build and a perpetually annoyed expression.
Indah is the senior officer responsible for solving Preservation Station’s anomalous killing and containing any wider threat. She is also the institutional gatekeeper Murderbot must learn to work beside.
