character

Mensah

Dr. Mensah · Preservation Alliance admin director · Murderbot’s client · teammate · Amena’s second mother

Mensah arrives with Preservation’s rescue force, accepts ART’s secret, and assures Murderbot that choosing a new mission cannot erase its first home.

Story so far

Mensah leaves trauma treatment after ART’s hidden message buoy reaches Preservation with news that Amena, Thiago, and their friends have been kidnapped. She travels aboard an armed station responder with security personnel and Pin-Lee, reaching the lost-colony system before Barish-Estranza reinforcements.

Murderbot verifies her identity and the absence of casualties through their private phrase, “Coldstone, song, harvest.” Mensah receives the full account, learns ART’s covert mission, and comes aboard when the responder docks. She formally accepts ART as a person whose existence must remain secret in the Corporation Rim, while Pin-Lee joins the university crew’s attempt to contest the corporate colony claim.

In private, Mensah confirms she began trauma appointments before the rescue interrupted them. Murderbot admits its emotional collapse when it believed ART dead and reveals the transport’s invitation to another mission. Mensah neither claims nor releases it: she says Murderbot can remain part of Preservation, return to visit, and temporarily work with ART’s crew to learn whether that life fits. Her recognition that Murderbot now knows what it wants turns a painful decision into evidence of growth.
