Castle Dracula

the castle · the Count's castle

The hunters return to Dracula's desolate fortress, where its vampire household and tombs are cleared before the Count can regain them.

Story so far

Castle Dracula remains high above a desolate Carpathian waste, the place where Jonathan Harker was imprisoned and the Weird Sisters fed. Van Helsing reaches it from the Borgo Pass while the Count's box approaches by road.

In the ruined chapel, Van Helsing destroys the three women in their coffins and seals Dracula's own lordly tomb with Sacred Host. The castle ceases to be a ready sanctuary just before the road battle below decides whether its master will return.

Appearance

A vast ruined fortress above snowy Carpathian forests, with broken battlements, sheer walls, desolate courts, dusty chambers, and an ancient chapel containing vampire tombs.

Role

The castle is Dracula's intended final refuge and ancestral power center, neutralized from within as his body is intercepted outside.

Relationships

Van Helsing — Van Helsing enters by day to destroy the resident vampires and seal the tombs.
Count Dracula — Count Dracula races toward the castle in his box but never regains its protection.
