Rooted in Place

Rooted in Place skill

Much harder to knock you over. The system itself points out that this is not necessarily good news.

Story so far

The Enchanted Shade Gnoll Riot Forces Crowd Control Shield grants +5 to Rooted in Place, so Carl looked the skill up. The description is unusually candid: it makes it much more difficult to knock you over or back, 'that's not necessarily a good thing, physics being what they are. Be careful with this one.'

Carl said as much out loud — he liked the shield but was worried about the wording on rooted in place. For a crawler who spends her fights standing in front of charging masses, refusing to be moved is a benefit right up to the moment the thing hitting her is bigger than she is.

Appearance

A defensive property with a warning label written by the people who sold it to you.

Role

A stability buff the system openly flags as double-edged.

Relationships

Katia Grim — Gains the skill by equipping the shield; Carl is uneasy about it on her behalf.
