Carl's portal-reading upgrade turns a yard of anonymous doorways into a manufacturer's catalogue — and flags a half-mile drop.
In Station 75's cart yard the Valtay upgrade earns its cost several times over. Analysing the first of the four wall-mounted track portals returns a full product line — "Ultima Corp DungeonWerx Industrial Subspace Multi-Destination Light-Duty Portal" — along with the facts that it is one-way and selectable, that it requires a DungeonWerx Portal Selector to dial a destination, and that with no selection made it defaults to choice one, the Orange Line. The pass check and environment check come back clean, and the visual analysis shows nothing more informative than an anonymous stretch of track.
Its real contribution comes with the Debris Scoop. The blade cannot be read while switched off — Carl tries and gets nothing, which is part of why he concludes the portal cannot be detached from the cart — but once the cart is running and the blade hums up into a tunnel-wide frosted mirror, analysis identifies it as a heavy-duty self-adjusting clean-up portal and returns a plain "Warning" for the environment on the far side. Drilling into that warning produces a page of numbers with elevation above solid ground highlighted: in abyss mode the far side is open air, half a mile up. Switching the selector to the trainyard makes the warning disappear, and the plan's two settings are confirmed before anyone bets a life on them.
An interface tab and a purple glow over every doorway, opening into type readouts, pass checks, environment pages and live screenshots.
The skill that reads the yard's portals, names their manufacturer, and proves what abyss mode actually does.
