The Left Fang of the Green Sultan

Eva's saber · the enchanted saber

Half of a matched pair of sabers, dropped in the gore and worthless alone — which means Eva lost her main weapon too.

Story so far

Carl found it as he was about to jump out of a moving train. Easing the gore-filled Vermillion engine car up to full speed for his train bomb, he spotted something on the floor among the entrails: one of Eva Sigrid's two sabers, dropped when Princess Donut raised Hekla from the dead, fallen into the mess and forgotten. He pulled it into his inventory on his way out the front window.

The description named it The Left Fang of the Green Sultan and explained the catch. It is part of a set, and it is only magical when the two weapons are together; alone it offers no buffs and no powerups whatsoever. Carl decided that was good news rather than bad, because the inverse also holds — the saber still in Eva's hands is now just as inert. Whatever else the botched ambush at station 75 cost her, it cost her her main weapon.

Katia Grim took it up for practice while the party ground ghouls at the tunnel mouth, working with it in her smaller human form between rounds of forming spikes on her arms and rehearsing the Sentinel Gun. An unenchanted sword is a fine training blade, and there is a certain satisfaction in a stolen half of a legendary pair being used as a practice dummy's stick.

Appearance

A curved saber, one of a matched left-and-right pair, retrieved slick with drying gore from the floor of a slaughterhouse engine car.

Role

A halved set-item looted from an enemy crawler — useless as a magic weapon, valuable as proof that Eva is now underarmed.

Relationships

Eva Sigrid — Her weapon, dropped in the fight at station 75; losing it stripped the enchantment from the twin she still carries.
Carl — He pocketed it on his way out of a speeding train bomb, mostly for what its absence does to Eva.
Katia Grim — She practises with it in her small human form, treating a set-item as a training blade.
