Seven hours of empty track, five run-down crawlers and one mimic — the line Carl had to drive himself.
Mindaro is the line that went wrong, so it became the line the party rode. When Daniel Bautista's second cart never arrived, the four of them dialed themselves onto Mindaro and went to find out why, with very little discussion about how terrible an idea that was. Nobody knows what colour mindaro even is; Katia Grim, the art professor, guesses a shade of chartreuse, between yellow and green, named for a French liqueur and subject to some controversy over its exact shade.
The ride is seven hours of eerie quiet. The line's power is out, so the cart runs on Dwarven Battery cells; there is nothing on the tracks but the occasional exploded corpse of a post-stage-three monster, and no sign at all of the baby krakarens. Two things interrupt it. At station 432, five crawlers running full-tilt from the cart's light get swept through the portal to Station and Repair Hub E, one of them managing an ice bolt on the way. Then Station 433, reached faster than Carl expected, its platform covered in the Xs of the dead, and outside it a blinking crossing gate that turns out to be a Station Mimic.
At the far end sits the giant abyss gate to Trainyard H, the platform where six hundred people had been waiting, and the wreck of the Def Leppard cart that never arrived. The line's failure — a follower cart eaten by the leader's portal — is Carl's one clean lesson from the whole operation.
A dark, unpowered bore of empty track running seven hours' hard driving from station 75's country to the abyss, littered with the occasional burst monster corpse.
The failed rescue line, and the seven-hour road Carl drove in person to fix it.
