Story so far

Madison is dead. Fire Brandy tells Carl and Princess Donut what happened once word spread and the NPCs started to get angry: the dwarves and the gremlins killed Madison, the human resources woman the crawlers brought up here. They built a stand and a noose and they hanged her. Brandy did not watch, but they brought the body to her, and she took it into the fire.

Carl's reaction is that Madison did not deserve it — and then the correction that makes the whole floor worse: her character deserved it. That is the thing, isn't it. All these NPCs are playing characters, and only a handful of them are starting to realise it.
