Story so far
At the UN reception, Bobbie Draper sits with the Rocinante crew, at peace but wistful. She tells Prax she's going back to Mars — her brother is getting married, and she means to arrive in time to 'screw up his bachelor party' — a homecoming to reclaim her family and herself. She's heard of Avasarala's not-yet-public offer to make Prax lead Ganymede's rebuild, and listens to his giddy romanticism about reconstruction with a melancholy smile, finding his talk of catastrophe-as-prelude almost an accusation.
Then the reception breaks: Fred Johnson's nuking of the monsters, and moments later the feed of Venus silencing the room. Bobbie follows Avasarala and the crew into the amphitheater to watch the protomolecule structure rise and depart — the enemy she fought reduced to a spectator's dread.
