Hornblower

A colony ship seized by the Free Navy after its owners try to run supplies past the closed Ring gate.

Story so far

The Hornblower is one of the colony ships that chooses flight rather than surrendering provisions to the Free Navy. It kills its transponder and uses short bright burns, a tactic called Hotaru, to hide in the system's vastness.

Michio Pa's Connaught detects its drive plume and damages its drive cone. After the original owner refuses conscription and a gunshot breaks out aboard, Sergio Plant announces surrender; the Connaught boards, secures the crew, and takes control of the ship for redistribution.

Appearance

A floating cargo-heavy colony ship with a grain silo, ill-kept command deck, scattered crash couches, and a damaged drive cone.

Role

The Hornblower makes the cost of Free Navy resource policy concrete: colonists lose both their planned future and their cargo.

Relationships

[[Connaught]] — The Connaught tracks, disables, boards, and guards it.
[[Free Navy]] — The faction confiscates its supplies under a system-wide conscription order.
