Free Navy

Marco Inaros's revolutionary Belter fleet rules by closed gates, military seizure, and a claimed duty to feed the Belt.

Story so far

The Free Navy has emerged from secrecy as the Belt's military power. It holds Medina Station and the only functioning navy in the system, closes the Ring gate to colony traffic, and orders ships bound for new worlds to surrender their stored supplies for redistribution.

To its captains, these seizures are a harsh necessity after war and scarcity; to the colonists of the Hornblower, they are piracy. The faction's inner circle includes Marco Inaros, Anderson Dawes, Rosenfeld, and Sanjrani, and its authority reaches from Ceres to isolated ships searching the dark for escape.

Appearance

A revolutionary naval force identified by Marco's distinctive Free Navy salute and crews drawn from Belter and repurposed Martian military life.

Role

The Free Navy is the governing and coercive force opposing the old inner-planet order in the early aftermath of the asteroid attacks.

Relationships

[[Marco Inaros]] — Marco is the faction's commanding figure and personally directs its inner circle.
[[Michio Pa]] — Her Connaught mission enforces Free Navy requisition policy.
[[Earth]] — Its earlier attack has left the planet in a humanitarian disaster.
