Avernus Creeper

walking plant · the tumbleweed

A near-sentient walking tangle of vines used as Team Sparkles' mount — nigh-unkillable and horrifically invasive.

Story so far

The Avernus Creeper is the biological mount of Team Sparkles on the tenth floor: a round tumbleweed-like tangle of not-quite-sentient vines that glides along the ground on thousands of tiny feet, 'almost like a bug.' Loosely related to the Gehenna Brambles of the sixth floor, it is nearly impossible to kill because any severed branch or thorn rapidly regrows into a full plant — whole planets have reportedly been lost to it, making it one of the most invasive species in the universe. This specimen is magically capped at half size and barred from reproducing. When it plows over the party's cart, its thorns lodge in Rend's hide; Mordecai excitedly asks Carl to save them for a Botanist's Table upgrade, since they can't sprout on this floor.
