Lottery

The lottery grants couples a year to try for a child, with new opportunities following deaths in the silo.

Story so far

Winning the Lottery gives a couple a year to try to conceive, within a system intended to let parents have two children to replace themselves. Holston and Allison’s opportunity passed to another couple before their year ended. Dr. Peter Nichols says the lottery also moved on after his premature son died without officially counting as born.

Lotteries occur soon after deaths in the silo. Juliette would prefer fixed dates instead.
