Story so far
Squirties is a waystation refueling platform located just outside the main tunnel access route to the entrance of the Earth system. Zander leased the spot with his life savings; his mother designed the logo, a smiling face with different types of fuel squirting from its tentacles in colors that are all wrong. It stocks Veriluxx Real Pet Companion toys, of which only the Donut and Mongo models still occasionally sell.
The embargo has emptied it. Nothing passes through the tunnel gate, refueling customers have stopped entirely, and even the reporters have gone - scared off by the threat of war and by the Mantis system going boom. Zander is watching the news of ships shooting at each other and a The Dream cruiser crash-landing on Earth when Eris appears in his shop without docking, and the book's last scene plays out among the toy shelves.
