One Way

One Way shield

Fan-shaped shield spell that traps incoming thrown objects while letting defenders fire out from behind it.

Story so far

One Way is one of the pop-up magical defenses thrown up at the sole surviving entrance to The Castle. Unlike Protective Shell, which forms a bubble, these come as large fan-shaped screens with no time limit — though they can be worn down by damage, and they are specifically effective against tech-based weapons.

Its trapping property saves lives: a grenade thrown at the defenders is caught in the One Way shield and detonates hanging in mid-air twenty feet short of the line. The catch is that it stops grenades but does nothing for pulse blasts, which keep punching through and burning. Mages duck out from the castle periodically to recast the screens back to 100% before disappearing back inside.

Appearance

A large translucent fan-shaped screen standing upright before the defenders, briefly suspending caught projectiles in mid-air.

Role

Defensive shield spell that halts thrown ordnance and tech weapons while allowing return fire.
