Showrunners

The Showrunners

The dungeon's producers, who skipped the NPC audits that would have caught centuries-old changelings.

Story so far

The showrunners are named here as the parties who decided that expensive, deeper-level audits of NPCs were not necessary. Their reasoning was that Class A and Class B NPCs auto-recycle when killed, so the twenty-life recycling limit would enforce itself.

It did not. Juice Box has lived at least four hundred lives with her memories intact, and the Changelings retain their libraries and recollections across iterations. The same institutional shortcuts govern executions: the showrunners prefer to send Hardshells for cleanup rather than let The AI kill non-crawlers, since they want it focused on the crawl lest it go primal early. Every failure Justice Light exploits traces back to a decision made for cost or convenience.

Role

The dungeon's producers, whose cost-cutting and neglect created the exploitable cracks Justice Light intends to use.

Relationships

NPC Recycling — Waived the audits that would have enforced the twenty-life limit.
The AI — Ration its use to keep it from going primal early.
Juice Box — Their neglect allowed her four hundred remembered lives.
