Listed in the procedures Milk recalls as a Non-Combatant NPC, reassignment to a combat role is one of the punishments for interfering in crawler conflicts. It falls between extra time on her Indentureship contract and the worst outcome, Undead Reassignment. For Milk — a Cartographer whose wings have atrophied from decades of sleep inside her Calligraphy Guild — being pushed into a combat role would be effectively a death sentence, which makes her decision to help Miriam and Prepotente a real gamble.
