Thousands of layered traps blanketing the flat prairie between the woods and the Madness castle.
Beyond the treeline where Carl's team lands, the flat prairies of The Madness stretch roughly five kilometers to The Madness Castle, and the whole expanse glitters in the dark with literally thousands of traps twinkling like a tapestry of stars. Carl can pick out alarm traps, hidden alarm traps, teleport traps, and a great many summons, both monster and guard, which is the worst part: Tripper would set the summons off and bury the team in soldiers.
The coverage is far thicker than Carl expected, forcing the team to pick their way slowly and forcing him to bring in only four reinforcements rather than a proper force. He marks every trap on the Platoon map so the whole team can see them, assigns Imani to disarm alarm traps only, and takes the summons himself. The one piece of good news is that several traps are inert because their bound guards are already dead, suggesting the field is old and unmaintained.
Dark open prairie under night sky, its entire surface twinkling with thousands of points of trap-light like a field of stars.
The primary obstacle between the crawler infiltration team and the Madness castle.
