Demonic Infestation Treatment

the treatment · the dream sequence

Carl's cure for demonic infestation, requiring a sleep potion and a dream sequence Shi Maria could hijack.

Story so far

To treat his demonic infestation, Carl quaffed a sleep potion and took medicine, with Mordecai, Rosetta, Bucket Boy and Imani attending his cot in the infirmary. The plan was to allow Shi Maria to take over Carl's consciousness during the dream sequence, on the understanding that in that state the entity could not control his body, cast spells, send messages, or touch his inventory.

Stockade timed his Summon Ally to land in that window. Mordecai judges that at best the Lemig wanted to ruin the treatment, at worst to kill Carl outright or deliver a demon-possessed shell — the same thing that happened on the last floor. Mordecai admits he thought he'd killed Carl and that it took time to figure out what was going on. Carl remained a Non-Corporeal Avatar for roughly ten hours before waking, and Baroness Victory notes the dream events wouldn't have unfolded as they did without the game guide's intervention.

Role

The medical procedure whose vulnerable window Stockade exploited.
