Colonel Boomer

Boomer

Grizzled, cigar-chewing elf veteran who returns from Faction Wars to launch phase two of the war outside the dungeon.

Story so far

Boomer comes back from Faction Wars visibly aged, hailing the Homecoming Queen from the onboarding facility and telling York to bring her in nice and easy. Their running joke is York's poetry, and Boomer's contribution is a doggerel verse - roses are red, violets are blue, we won Faction Wars, now we get to kill more of them - which York rates, correctly, as terrible.

Business follows the joke. Boomer confirms that phase two is about to begin and that it will be far less difficult than planned, because they made friends down in the dungeon. He orders the breaching suits readied, is delighted to hear the enhancement zone suits and Cronus-class Power Armor are online exactly as Porthus predicted, and tells York to set aside four Cronus suits for a landing skiff - there is a pregnant veteran on the surface who needs backup. Then, cigar in mouth, he gives the order that defines the ending: it is time to bring the war out of the dungeon, so warm up the lasers.

Appearance

A grizzled old elf, noticeably aged even on a low-resolution display, with a cigar he pops into his mouth mid-sentence.

Role

Field commander of the returning crawler-veteran force who launches phase two of the resistance's war.

Relationships

York — His pilot, whose poetry he mocks with good-natured relentlessness
Porthus — Whose predictions about the enhancement zone gear proved correct
Homecoming Queen — The behemoth he is docking with, now the strongest ship in orbit
Faction Wars — The campaign he and the other veterans just won
