Hundreds of children and shopkeepers fleeing up from the burning city as the defense towers open fire.

Story so far

On the 66th level of Larracos — normally barracks and soldiers — Carl found hundreds of NPCs he hadn't been expecting: children and shopkeepers fleeing the fighting below, scrambling up the stairs into Shanty Town and diving into shops as the City Defense System finished spinning up.

When the towers began firing, they started to scream and dove into the closest structures. Their presence is part of what makes Carl recognize his bomb drop as a mistake with serious negative consequences for everyone in the area.

Appearance

Crowds of civilian shopkeepers and children, scrambling and screaming among the carts and cobblestones of the upper levels.

Role

The civilian cost of Carl's improvised bombing and the tower activation.

Relationships

Larracos — Their home city, now burning beneath them.

City Defense System — Sends them screaming for cover when it activates.

Carl — Runs through their panic on his way to the Nest tower.
