Traditional Marriage Truce

Marriage Truce

The marriage arrangement binding crawler Louis to changeling Juice Box, completed in the small wedding.

Story so far

The marriage between Louis and Juice Box is completed in this chapter via The Small Wedding, the private and legally binding first half of a Changeling ceremony. There is no officiant, no rings, no ring bearers and no singing; the pair simply hold hands in the cleared center of the Entrance Bar and whisper improvised vows into each other's ears.

Mordecai frames it in changeling terms: most such marriages are arranged, and the ceremony includes Divorce Papers that expire in a month, giving either party a consequence-free exit before the Confirmation. Until then they are legally married - a crawler bound to an NPC on live broadcast, which Zev notes is a first, and which spikes everyone's viewership.

Role

The crawler-NPC marriage arrangement made binding by the chapter's ceremony.
